A second location opened in 1971 and within a decade the chain had grown to 11 stores. Hi-School remained a private company as it continued to grow through the 1990s; by 2003, it had 37 stores in Oregon and Washington and 650 employees.In August 2003, the company sold all 11 of its stores in Clark County, Washington, to Walgreens and entered into a non-compete agreement. A Hi-School Pharmacy in Washington has agreed to a $600,000 settlement to resolve a class action data breach lawsuit. Hi-School Pharmacy experienced network disruption on November 3, 2024, and confirmed on November 21, 2023, that hackers had accessed its network and potentially obtained the personal information of current and former employees, including their names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.Hi-School Pharmacy denied and continues to deny any wrongdoing or liability and chose to settle the lawsuit to avoid further legal costs and the risks and uncertainty from continuing to fight the litigation.
